About us

Formed in 1980 by Christopher and David Johnson, Pulse is still managed by the company’s founders today.
Uniquely, Pulse designs and continues to develop four main fitness equipment ranges in the UK from its corporate headquarters in Congleton Cheshire where it employs over 100 people. In addition, the Pulse brand is currently represented in 20 countries worldwide, with offices in the UK, Ireland and Germany.

In the UK and Ireland, Pulse is the largest fitness solutions provider serving over 3000 customers in the local authority, sports and recreation, private health and leisure, schools, colleges and university markets. Added to which, Pulse supplies many hospitality venues, like cruise liners, hotels and corporate companies who offer fitness to their guests and employees. Pulse also holds official supplier status to medical facilities, the military and both amateur and professional sports organisations.

With a successful track record in managing leisure facility development projects, Pulse has successfully developed over 60 investment partnerships with public sector authorities, leisure trusts and local educational establishments. As a consequence, Pulse manages over 30,000 members throughout its UK leisure facility network.

At the Congleton head offices Pulse operates a number of key services for its clients and partners.

1. Product Support Service Department: Pulse manages around 1000 equipment service and maintenance contracts year round, responding to all call-outs from its large client base in the UK, Ireland and worldwide.

Pulse has 12 highly qualified service engineers spread across the UK and Ireland visiting sites to maintain and service all equipment supplied. In addition, the service team organises routine maintenance programmes, controls emergency call outs and scheduled servicing.

2. Warehousing, assembly and installations: Pulse receives over 8 x 40 foot containers a month, full of some 400 -500 pieces of Pulse equipment from manufacturing plants in China and Taiwan. Assembled and stored within 1500sqm2 of warehouse, 400-500 machines are rigorously checked each month for quality prior to leaving the site.

About us

With four Pulse owned vehicles to safety transport machines to centres nationwide, Pulse currently completes well over 30 large installations of equipment a month.

3. Pulse serves 30,000 customers per year through its ClubPulse gyms. Pulse also manages the support services for all its clients and partners within the ClubPulse network from the Congleton office. On a daily basis this team provides everything a ClubPulse needs to function, from full operations, staff recruitment and training, membership sales people, marketing to installing IT hardware for ticketing, bookings and the management of direct debit collections.

Pulse expects to add around 10 ClubPulse sites per annum with the chain expected to exceed 100 by 2010. With the introduction of its brand new commercial solution, 5-a-side Soccer Centre’s Pulse will provide the most comprehensive fitness solution available in the UK today.
